THAT'S AWESOME! Starwas is apparently a universal - har, har - passion. Some Italian ad agency - Italians have ad agencies? - created the Fonts of Starwars. This is nerdy graphic designer porn. I'm just disappointed the US couldn't ad(d) - HAH! - this notch to its belt.

I knew that Sam Calagione was on his way to great heights when his brewing guides and business books became industry bibles. It was only fitting Sam followed up with his own television program on the Discovery Channel, Brew Masters. The show premieres this Sunday (and I am counting the minutes), but I couldn't believe my eyes when I ACTUALLY saw a commercial - during regular programming - for the show. It was surreal. I remember - about 5 years ago - interviewing a few guys at the brewery for an article while Sam was hanging around the office. He was a tangible character. Don't get me wrong, he still felt like a superstar to me back then, but now, Calagione is an infamous household name in the craft brewing community. Some how, though, the development of this show makes me a bit jealous.
For years, DFH has felt like MY brewery, in MY little state, making MY favorite beer (I wrote an article about it a couple year's ago). To me, this show represents DFH's graduation from the Delaware (or even Eastern-Seaboard) stage, into the national spot light. And maybe I'm just selfish to think people OUTSIDE of Delaware can't enjoy and respect it as much as people INSIDE of Delaware. It feels like a close friend of mine just got a big break - and maybe, all-in-all, it will be a good thing. Read more on Dynamic Palate.
The local North Wilmington Comic Book Shop has recently come under new management. The younger, less stuffy owners have proved themselves to be a pretty cool couple. This Halloween they did a Costume Contest - with a couple of different categories, including Most Original, Best Executed, Group, and a couple of kids categories nobody really cares about...
Guess what...WE WON. My friends and I did the DC Justice League this year for Halloween AND we sure did enter into that contest. We won in the Group category and even though our only rivals were a marginal version of Tweety and Sylvester, I chalk this up to be a GREAT VICTORY. Halloween is awesome.
LOUIS CK. He's so good at what he does. I saw him Friday, and it was hilarious. He tastefully talks about shitting himself, eating uncontrollably, living through divorce, and loving (but mostly hating) his children. He uses the n-word, the f-word, and makes the audience think it's all totally appropriate (and most importantly, harmless) for his poignant and comical resolutions. He's raunchy and witty and it's hard to beat his skill of delivery (which is most definitely a skill). Even when his contemporaries steal his material (as an homage or otherwise), he stays the humble overweight middle-aged ginger without flinching. Louis is truly a professional in a craft increasingly filled with fledgling hams.

HA, HA!

Ok Halloween is probably my favorite holiday.
I'm not crazy about horror movies or a bunch of scary things - but I LOVE dressing up and I LOVE when people to stuff like THIS ---------------->
This is something I casually passed by...on my way to lunch...in the middle of Kennett Square - ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Their bunny hedge is in full Darth Vadar garb. Complete with light saber.
If it's even possible...My Friday got A LITTLE BIT BETTER.
...but, I LOVE THE OFFICE.
So, I used to be too much of an anglophile...too pretentious (a staunch bitch, if you will)...too "ooh, how could they possibly bastardize such a witty Britcom into US prime-time gruel"...too "ooh, The Office? Only the UK version"...puke.
I finally came to grips with the fact that I AM AN AMERICAN (not some American cowboy, rough-neck descendant of Elizabeth I). And The US Office is hilarious. Now, this doesn't mean I'm going to stop podcasting the BBC Newshour or pretend like Are You Being Served? and The IT Crowd aren't better than 80% of US TV; but I am very impressed with US The Office (and I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact it was created by Ricky Gervais...)
Some things will never change.
Cajun Kate's Beef Brisket Po-Boy: Cajun Kate's is a Cajun food stand in the middle of the iconic Broothwyn Farmer's Market. It's insanely good and insanely small. It might have seven bar seats...smushed up against the 5ft by 5ft kitchen area. And, it's true, I've only been around for about 23 years, BUT these guys make THE BEST beef brisket I've ever had...in my life. Familiar with the Farmer's Marketing? It's right by door 12.
Sebastian Le Toux's Pink cleats: This weekend was the Philadelphia Union's LAST HOME GAME. And they won...thank goodness, against the unimaginative corporate lackies, The NY Red Bulls (great name:::FART:::). Anyway, Le Toux, a French footballer who plays for Philadelphia, wears these PINK CLEATS. The end.
My new family member: Joining me, Sophie, Jen, Liz, and all the koi, Eos is my mother's newest child. An all black, hard top convertible, Eos is definitely the favorite. Though not the prettiest of my mother's children, with a rather unflattering profile and a big nose, Eos is fun as hell to drive and very utilitarian - a great size, a non-rag drop-top, and a VW. You truly can't judge a book by it's cover...
Wilmington finally has become a part of the GROUPON inner circle - a private club for cities of great power, prestige, and success! Unfortunately, Wilmington shares it's fame with Newark: obviously Wilmington listed first...even though alphabetically counter-intuitive. It's great! Now we get deals like the inaugural $10 worth of hot dogs for $5 at Johnny's Dog House or an $8 trip (for two) to Ramsey's Corn Maze.
I'm hoping I'll be able to get a 52% discount on tractor driving lessons or only pay $4 for $4.50 worth of unibrow waxing. This could really be the start of something great.Groupon.com, y'all!
Housed in America's greatest mall: Christiana, in our fair state of Delaware. A true-to-life, professional grade rendition of R2-D2. It's what R2-D2 really looks like...look at it! It's perfect. Aside from the 200% scale, hard blocky edges, and complete lack of vocal capability...otherwise, it's exactly like R2-D2. Thanks Fox.
Easy...
And I bought it.
I think this may be my favorite song. And I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to show such subtlety in my affection...
