The Italians Like Starwars?

THAT'S AWESOME! Starwas is apparently a
universal - har, har - passion. Some Italian ad agency - Italians have ad agencies? - created the Fonts of Starwars. This is nerdy graphic designer porn. I'm just disappointed the US couldn't ad(d) - HAH! - this notch to its belt.

The Discovery Channel Just Got a Whole Lot COOLER

I knew that Sam Calagione was on his way to great heights when his brewing guides and business books became industry bibles. It was only fitting Sam followed up with his own television program on the Discovery Channel, Brew Masters. The show premieres this Sunday (and I am counting the minutes), but I couldn't believe my eyes when I ACTUALLY saw a commercial - during regular programming - for the show. It was surreal. I remember - about 5 years ago - interviewing a few guys at the brewery for an article while Sam was hanging around the office. He was a tangible character. Don't get me wrong, he still felt like a superstar to me back then, but now, Calagione is an infamous household name in the craft brewing community. Some how, though, the development of this show makes me a bit jealous.

For years, DFH has felt like
MY brewery, in MY little state, making MY favorite beer (I wrote an article about it a couple year's ago). To me, this show represents DFH's graduation from the Delaware (or even Eastern-Seaboard) stage, into the national spot light. And maybe I'm just selfish to think people OUTSIDE of Delaware can't enjoy and respect it as much as people INSIDE of Delaware. It feels like a close friend of mine just got a big break - and maybe, all-in-all, it will be a good thing. Read more on Dynamic Palate.

Halloween via THE COMIC BOOK SHOP

The local North Wilmington Comic Book Shop has recently come under new management. The younger, less stuffy owners have proved themselves to be a pretty cool couple. This Halloween they did a Costume Contest - with a couple of different categories, including Most Original, Best Executed, Group, and a couple of kids categories nobody really cares about...
Guess what...WE WON. My friends and I did the DC Justice League this year for Halloween AND we sure did enter into that contest. We won in the Group category and even though our only rivals were a marginal version of Tweety and Sylvester, I chalk this up to be a GREAT VICTORY. Halloween is awesome.

Never A Dull Moment...

LOUIS CK. He's so good at what he does. I saw him Friday, and it was hilarious. He tastefully talks about shitting himself, eating uncontrollably, living through divorce, and loving (but mostly hating) his children. He uses the n-word, the f-word, and makes the audience think it's all totally appropriate (and most importantly, harmless) for his poignant and comical resolutions. He's raunchy and witty and it's hard to beat his skill of delivery (which is most definitely a skill). Even when his contemporaries steal his material (as an homage or otherwise), he stays the humble overweight middle-aged ginger without flinching. Louis is truly a professional in a craft increasingly filled with fledgling hams.
